TikTok has spawned a new generation of digital celebrities who have amassed massive followings on the app.

Unlike YouTube and Facebook, which share a portion of ad money with qualified users, TikTok does not share ad revenue with influencers. Instead, it has built-in revenue features like as virtual “gifts” and a monetized system that pays Tiktokers who has up to 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 views every month for their content. This is tagged as Creator Fund.

While Creator Fund payments aren’t based only on views, some TikTokers told Insider that the effective reimbursements for videos have amounted to a few pence for every thousand video views.

However, it can be difficult for many creators to make a living solely from TikTok. Many creators, on the other hand, are still figuring out how to generate money. TikTokers make money from corporate partnerships, song promotions, livestreams, and the company’s Creator Fund.

TikTok creators have access to a variety of in-app revenue options, including the Creator Fund.

Receiving electronic “gifts” that can be swapped for cash during livestreams is another way for some TikTokers to make money. Lucy Davis, an ASMR content creator, told Insider that each time she goes live, she earns between $20 and $300. (Recently, the business began experimenting with the app’s gifting feature in other areas.)

According to documents provided with Insider, personal finance influencer Preston Seo, who currently has 2.1 million TikTok followers, received a total of $1,664 from the Creator Fund between January 2021 and May 2021. On average, his TikTok account earns $9 to $38 each day.

On TikTok, Seo charges around $600 each sponsored post, according to him.

Because Creator Fund payments are insufficient to cover living expenses, many influencers rely on business partnerships and song promotions to supplement their TikTok income.

Symphony Clarke, an Atlanta-based TikTok developer, told Insider that a sponsored post costs between $350 and $600.

Promoting music in videos is one of the most effective ways to make money as a TikToker. Music marketers and record companies frequently pay TikTok users to post on the app in order to promote a new song.

Nicole, alongside Natalie, and Nika Taylor, who have managed to get over 10 million followers on TikTok, told Insider that they do charge about $750 for a single video, $1,400 for two videos, and $2,000 for three videos to promote a song on the app.

Rates for micro influencers with fewer followers are more variable, ranging from $20 to $150, according to Austin Georgas, a senior account manager at the Gen-Z media company Flighthouse who specializes in music marketing.
